The Andy's Red Riders Chapter of the HRCA® was organized not just for the opportunity to socialize and get to know riders in the southeastern part of Kentucky, but also to work for charities in the Hazard/Perry County area. Chapter President, Harry Watts, Jr. (owner of Andy's Cycle Sales) says that forming the Chapter gave him the opportunity to get to know all the regular riders after assuming ownership in May of 2002. Watts and the Chapter vice president Mike Hazelrigg, are avid riders with Hazelrigg just completing a 4,500 mile ride for his vacation. Hazelrigg is the service manager at Andy's and rides everyday with many winter mornings well below freezing never daunting his ride to work. Watts is very conscious of civic responsibilities and likes for the sport and Andy's Red Riders to balance their group activities with efforts to improve the standard of living for the area residents through the March of Dimes, the Hazard Lions Club Montessori School, the American Cancer Society walk-a-thon and many more fund raising events.

Most recently, the Chapter co-sponsored a "poker run" with the James River Coal employees for the Lions Montessori School where all profits were donated to the school for their scholarship fund. Chapter member, Howard Woolum, who is always an active presence, was on hand to help with registration, card dealing and food serving for the meal that was provided the 100 riders who participated. The weather was cool over the 125 mile ride, but the friendship was warm as a great meal was ready at the end of the day and for the money that was raised to help the local Lions Club with their school that serves 106 children, ages three to five. Poker runs have become the hot thing to do for local charities to raise funds and the Andy's Red Riders Chapter is pleased to participate in this type of social gathering for fun, but also for a worthwhile cause.
