Q: Why is my name misspelled on my membership card?
A:
At the time of sale, the Honda powersports dealer sends your name and address with Vehicle Identification Number (VIN, for motorcycles, motorscooters and ATVs) or Hull Identification Number (HIN, for PWCs) to us at Honda via our electronic communication system. Upon receipt, we compare the name and address to our database to determine if we need to issue a new membership or add time to an existing membership. As you know, we issue a complimentary, one-year membership in the HRCA to individuals with the retail purchase of all new USA-certified Honda motorcycles, ATVs, scooters and PWCs sold by an authorized Honda Powersports dealers in the United States. But if the dealer did not spell the name correctly, we have no way of knowing that. We call the dealer to verify strange-looking spellings, but remember, we processed over one-half million names last year.
Did the dealer use the buyer's drivers' license to be sure the spelling was correct on the registration? For example, a dealer could list me by a proper name, say, Charles. If he knew the person, he might register the person as Charlie, Chas, or Chuck. If the new Honda registration does not match the old membership, a new one is issued. This is why some Members wind up with more than one membership card.
If that happens call 1-800-847-HRCA and select option #3.
Q: What happens if two names appear on the Honda registration the dealer sends the HRCA?
A:
We are able to issue only one membership per sale, so we have to decide which name receives the membership. In the past, we might have assumed the male name would be the rider, but not any longer, the MSF now trains more women than men, however we generally select the first name listed.
Always ask the dealer to complete the Honda registration in the name of the user. Remember, this is not the vehicle's sale title or registration, but Honda's and the HRCA's registration. This way we will always send the membership materials to the right person. Also, the user may be eligible to collect from our very generous contingency program if the bike is used for racing.
Q: What if I have a current membership and buy a new Honda?
A:
If we have a correct name and address match, we consolidate the membership if it is a like unit. With a complimentary membership, we always extend your membership to cover 12 months from the date of the last purchase. If you buy six units on one day, we give you 12 months from the date of the last purchase. These are a few of the calls we get at the office. We try and remind dealers to register your new Honda properly, but sometimes mistakes do happen. When you buy a new Honda Motorcycle Division product, be sure the dealer gets all your info down right.
Q: How do I find out the status of my HRCA membership?
A:
To check whether your membership is valid, call 1-800-847-HRCA and they can give you the status. Or click on the "My Profile" link at the top right of this page. If you are not able to access the HRCA Clubhouse then perhaps your membership has expired and you should renew it. If you are experiencing a problem or need to update an address, you can clear it up by calling 1-800-847-HRCA.
Q: How do I get a replacement HRCA membership card?
A:
Call 1-800-847-HRCA and select option #3.
Q: My bike was registered in my name but it is really my wife's bike. How can I get the membership in the right name?
A:
Contact your selling dealer and have them transmit a "New Owner Information" on the iN Service Tab to AHM. Also, notify the HRCA at (310) 783-3958 and alert us to look for the change. Upon receipt of the "Customer Information Change" from the dealer a new membership will be issued for the remaining time of the complimentary year.
Q: I need to cancel my membership. Am I eligible for a refund of my membership fee?
A:
> Membership fees are refundable on a pro-rated basis. You can receive a refund for any whole, unused months remaining on your membership, minus a $10.00 cancellation fee. The cancellation request time is logged during normal HRCA business hours, Monday through Friday, from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM. Messages left over a weekend will not be logged or acted upon until resumption of business on the first business day after a weekend or holiday.
Q: I live outside the United States. Why can't I become a Member?
A:
The HRCA was formed for Honda riders in the USA and as a result the benefits are geared to USA citizens. In some cases, specifications of bikes differ from one country to another, and not all of the HRCA Member benefits would be legal in other countries. If you really want to be part of a Honda riding group in your country, we suggest you contact the Honda subsidiary headquarters in your country and perhaps try to help them form a club.
